Fundraising

Unfortunately our application to the Paul Hamlyn Foundation was rejected, as they do not seem willing to fund any project that involves capital works.

Applications have been sent to the Wolfson Foundation and the Turtleton Charitable Trust.

Applications will be submitted to the Radcliffe Trust and the Hugh Fraser Foundation by the end of the month.

Mia is working on an application to the SSE Sustainable Development Fund.

Audience Development

Work on the Audience Report is ongoing.

Learning

RG is planning to put together a Gaelic loan box over the next few months, but will need some help on the language front! KT has made some suggestions of people who might be able to help, but please get in touch if you have any ideas. The box will consist of objects, photographs and activities – it is the latter that will be the most difficult to compile.

Community Consultation

KT and RG have arranged a tentative schedule of community consultations over the next few months – the issue will be discussed in more detail as Agenda item 7.5. We are thinking of holding these on a Saturday over lunchtime (to try to entice people in with soup and scones!) They would run as drop-in sessions from 11-1, and would give people the chance to look at and comment on our plans for the new museum. KT and/or RG will be present at all the meetings, and we would like 2 or 3 Board members to be present at each as well.

Interpretation

The Interpretation Plan has been updated with information from the Gaelic Strategy and revisions following on from discussions with the designers have also been made. It has now been passed on to Mia for consideration at the Stage C Review with HLF on 1 February.

Oral history

RG has started going through some of the past oral history interviews to make summary transcripts and highlight clips that could be useful for the new displays. She is also planning to do some interviewing over the next few months, starting with Jessie Macintyre.
